Injury Concerns for Key Players as Eagles Practice Continues

The Philadelphia Eagles are facing a series of setbacks with crucial players sustaining injuries during the rigorous training sessions leading up to the new season. Guard Mekhi Becton and fellow guard Landon Dickerson have both been stricken, raising concerns about the stability of the offensive line.

Becton, who exited practice early due to a right leg injury, has been a point of concern. Having worn a brace on his right knee last season with the New York Jets, Becton was observed favoring the same leg in earlier sessions. Despite the recurring issue, Becton affirmed his resilience, stating, "I finished practice." When asked about his current condition, he simply responded, "good."

Meanwhile, Dickerson has continued to push through his own difficulties. During a challenging one-on-one drill with defensive tackle Milton Williams, Dickerson emerged visibly limping. Nevertheless, he persevered and completed the session. Dickerson, who was previously sidelined by a lacerated toe earlier in training camp, has shown commendable dedication by not missing a single day of open practices since his return. Though he momentarily left practice due to a knee injury, his tenacity saw him rejoin his teammates before the end of the session.

Adding to the woes, second-team guard Tyler Steen is currently out with an ankle injury, which he exacerbated during the second preseason game. In his absence, Brett Toth has stepped up to manage the first-team right guard responsibilities.

The Eagles’ depth has been tested, not just by injuries to these key players. Among those missing on Day 14 of practice were Gabe Hall, Matt Hennessy, E.J. Jenkins, Lane Johnson, Joseph Ngata, Moro Ojomo, Albert Okwuegbunam, Caden Sterns, John Ross, and Johnny Wilson.

Despite these challenges, the Eagles are pressing on with their scheduled activities. A full practice is planned for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with a walkthrough slated for Monday. The team’s resilience will be crucial as they navigate these turbulence and strive to commence the season on solid footing.

The coaching staff and medical team will likely be monitoring Becton, Dickerson, and Steen closely in the coming days. Ensuring these pivotal players are fully recovered and ready to contribute will be paramount for the Eagles' success.
