Emma Raducanu made a triumphant return to competitive tennis as she secured a hard-fought victory over American Peyton Stearns in the opening round of the Korea Open in Seoul. The British star, currently ranked 70th in the world, demonstrated both resilience and skill to overcome her higher-ranked opponent, who sits at 48th in the world rankings.

Speaking after her victory, Raducanu expressed her pride in advancing to the next round and noted the challenging conditions. "I'm proud to have made it through to the next round. It was tough and very humid," she said. Reflecting on her recent limited match play, she added, "It was a tough match to get through. I haven't played many matches in the last few months."

Raducanu also acknowledged the quality of her opponent, highlighting the significance of the win. "Peyton is a really good player in good form so I'm really pleased," she stated, underscoring the satisfaction she derived from overcoming such a formidable adversary.

With this victory, Raducanu advances to face China's Yue Yuan in the next round. Yue Yuan, ranked 40th in the world, will undoubtedly present another stern test for Raducanu as she aims to progress further in the tournament.
